You can block any website with this trick in Windows OS platform. By this process
those web sites are blocked cannot open in any browser like Internet Explorer,
Google, Opera, Firefox. For this process you don’t need any software. In this
process a host file is edited in windows system file directory. Those web sites
you want to block write the site name and 127.0.0.1 IP address. 127.0.0.1 is a
local host IP address. When anyone visits the blocked web site browser redirect
him to the local host.
Here is the simplified step by step process----
- Go to my computer and enter the drive where windows are installed. Usually C drive is the installation drive.
- After entering C drive open windows folder. Now open system 32 folder and open drivers, then enter etc folder. Find the hosts file and open it note pad. Write in notepad 127.0.0.1 local host then write 127.0.0.1 site name. Others web sites that you want to block write the site name below the IP address. Write the site name of the block website as following. First write to www then write without www.
Example—127.0.0.1 local host
120.0.0.1 Facebook.com
www.facebook.com
- Save the notepad file . Always open the notepad file under administrative privileges, otherwise you can’t save the notepad file.
